Solana Beach – stylish beach community has it all

Solana Beach is another upscale beach community that offers visitors and residents great options for shopping, dining and fun activities. It has one of the finest live music venues in the county, The Belly Up Tavern. Discover original fashions, furniture, home decor and art in the Cedros Design District. There is great shopping and dining along Coast Hwy. 1. There are wide sandy beaches with dramatic cliffs that provide great swimming and surfing. At the southern border is the Del Mar Fairgrounds which includes thoroughbred horse racing. The Cedros Design District has great boutiques and galleries. Approximately 12,000 people live in the city of Solana Beach.

Solana Beach is located north of Del Mar and south of Cardiff. To the east is Rancho Santa Fe with some of the most expensive property in San Diego County. There are a variety of tract homes, custom homes and condominiums. Homes that are closest to the ocean or on hillsides with ocean or lagoon views are the most expensive. The median price of a single-family home was $1,1M in May, 2015 according to DataQuick. The median for condominiums was $733,750.

. There are 1.7 miles of beach. Dramatic cliffs rise up above brautiful sandy beaches keeping them relatively uncrowded. The northern end is more rocky and popular for surfing at spots known as Table Tops and Seaside. Fletcher Cove is also conveniently located only a few hundred yards from the Solana Beach train station, providing easy access to those visitors traveling to Solana Beach via Amtrak and the Coaster rail lines. A public access leads from the parking lot to a beautiful beach with excellent recreational opportunities for surfing, surf-fishing, swimming, body-boarding, jogging, and walking. There are public showers and restroom facilities as well as picnic tables and a basketball court located on top of the bluffs next to the Marine Safety Department Headquarters. Lifeguards are on duty year round at Fletcher Cove, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the winter months, and from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. during the summer months.

Fletcher Cove
Fletcher Cove is the main beach park in the City of Solana Beach. Located at 111 S. Sierra, at the end of Plaza street where Lomas Santa Fe Boulevard meets the beach.The beach is also commonly known as Pillbox because of its history as a WWII Gunnery installation. Fletcher Cove offers easy public access, parking, lifeguards and restrooms.

Dramatic cliffs rise up above sandy beaches that are great for jogging, swimming and surfing.
