History

Lakeside started as resort town in the 1880s and was focused around the Lakeside Inn. The architecture of the 80-room inn was similar in grandeur to the Hotel Del Coronado. The inn was a destination for health and relaxation. At the time it took a full day buggyride to reach the inn which was torn down in the 1920s. The town has grown slowly over the years and retains its rural feel. Lakeside became known for boating, fishing, hunting and relaxing.
